Methods of dosimetry-based treatment planning in radiopharmaceutical therapy. Part 2: Planning levels

چکیده
At the present time three most common approaches are used for planning of radionuclide therapy: administration fixed activity in radiopharmaceutical, or normalized per unit body mass surface. That may lead to significant deviations between prescribed and real absorbed doses healthy organs tissues. These associated with differences biodistribution pharmacokinetics radiopharmaceutical models patients. does not allow individual treatment course each patient since data on accumulated source regions at risk is limited uncertainty too high calculation doses. Improvements reliability dose can be achieved through use different imaging modalities (diagnostic nuclear medicine) quantitative assessment radionuclides tissues distribution Planning therapy should personalized. The current study was aimed analysis dosimetry-based presented Report International Commission Radiation Units Measurements 96 «Dosimetry-guided therapy», differentiated based possibilities medicine departments, including examples levels radiopharmaceuticals. results indicated that optimal approach Russian clinical practice transit requirements level 1: calculate report administered considering mass, type stage disease well as task. Requirements 2 currently impossible implement nation-wide, except several research facilities. Additionally, it necessary focus development methods estimation major delineable organs.

Planning and Meta-Planning (MOLGEN: Part 2)
The selection of what to do next is often the hardest part of resource-limited problem solving. In planning problems, there are typically many goals to be achieved in some order. The goals interact with each other in ways which depend both on the order in which they are achieved and on the particular operators which are used to achieve them. A planning program needs to keep its options open bec...
متن کاملComparing the results of 3D treatment planning and practical dosimetry in craniospinal radiotherapy using Rando phantom
Background: Craniospinal radiotherapy faces technical challenges which are due to the sensitivity of the location in which the gross tumor is, and to organs at risk around planning target volume. Using modern treatment planning systems causes a reduction in the complexities of the treatment techniques. The most effective method to assess the dosimetric accuracy and the validity of the ...
متن کاملAn Approach in Radiation Therapy Treatment Planning: A Fast, GPU-Based Monte Carlo Method
Introduction: An accurate and fast radiation dose calculation is essential for successful radiation radiotherapy. The aim of this study was to implement a new graphic processing unit (GPU) based radiation therapy treatment planning for accurate and fast dose calculation in radiotherapy centers. Materials and Methods: A program was written for parallel runnin...
متن کاملTumor and red bone marrow dosimetry: comparison of methods for prospective treatment planning in pretargeted radioimmunotherapy
BACKGROUND Red bone marrow (RBM) toxicity is dose-limiting in (pretargeted) radioimmunotherapy (RIT). Previous blood-based and two-dimensional (2D) image-based methods have failed to show a clear dose-response relationship. We developed a three-dimensional (3D) image-based RBM dosimetry approach using the Monte Carlo-based 3D radiobiological dosimetry (3D-RD) software and determined its additio...
